USBC WDMI Federal and State Agencies Information

Bankruptcy Rule 5003(e) became effective on December 1, 2000 and provides in pertinent part:

"The United States or the state or territory in which the court is located may file a statement designating its mailing address . . . The mailing address in the register is conclusively presumed to be a proper address for the governmental unit, but the failure to use that mailing address does not invalidate any notice that is otherwise effective under applicable law."

Using this section of our web page, you may locate the agency mailing addresses for the United States and for the State of Michigan. Users are reminded that Bankruptcy Rule 2002(j) requires that the United States Attorney be served, in addition to the federal agency, in instances where "the papers in a case disclose a debt to the United States other than for taxes".
